Silver held steady on 30 Jul 2026: ₹2,50,000 a kilogram (₹250 a gram), unchanged from yesterday. Silver is usually quoted per kg in India because it's bought in larger weights than gold — for bars, coins, utensils and gifting. Over the past month the per-kg rate has ranged ₹2,20,000–₹2,49,000 — today is near its highest in a month. City rates vary only slightly by state.

About the per-kg silver price

Why silver is sold by the kilogram

Because silver costs a fraction of gold per gram, it's typically bought in larger weights — bars and coins of 100 g, 500 g or a full kilo, plus utensils and gift articles. A per-kg quote (₹2,50,000 today) is simply the per-gram rate (₹250) multiplied by 1,000, shown in the unit people actually buy in.

Fine silver vs sterling (925)

The headline is 999 fine silver — the bullion standard for bars and coins. Most jewellery and articles are 925 sterling (92.5% silver, alloyed for strength), which works out to about ₹2,31,000 a kilo today. Always check for a 999 or 925 hallmark.

What you'll actually pay

The rate is only the metal value. Plain coins and bars carry little or no making charge; jewellery and worked articles add making charges on top, and 3% GST applies on purchase. For a single city's figure, tap it in the table above or open the per-gram silver page.
