About RatesToday

Edited by Indu · Last reviewed 21 Jun 2026

RatesToday publishes daily gold, silver, platinum and fuel rates for 500+ Indian cities, plus gold-loan comparisons and NRI/customs guidance — in plain language, answer-first, on mobile.

Where our rates come from

Bullion (gold / silver / platinum)
Aggregated from published bullion-association benchmarks and major-city dealer rates, standardised to 24K/22K/18K purity. These are reference metal rates, before GST and making charges.
Fuel (petrol / diesel)
Sourced from the fuel companies' official daily prices, city by city. Updated when the fuel companies revise — not on a fixed daily clock.
Gold-loan rates
Compiled from lenders' publicly published interest rates and RBI loan-limit rules. Your actual rate depends on the lender's assessment.

How often we update

Metal rates refresh daily, with a visible "Updated [time, date]" stamp on every page. Fuel updates when oil companies revise prices; if a price is unchanged, we say so rather than fake movement.

Who's behind RatesToday

RatesToday is a small, independent site, edited by Indu, who works with pricing and market data every day. It began simply — a habit of checking rates that slowly turned into something worth sharing.

Gold doesn't stop at a border, and neither do the people who follow it. The same price matters in two places at once — to someone buying at home in India, and to someone in the Gulf watching the market back home before they next travel. RatesToday is built for both, with Indian and Gulf prices in one place and the context that connects them: what a Dubai rate really means once duty is paid, when a gold loan beats selling, what you actually pay once making charges are in.

The numbers follow IBJA benchmarks and local jeweller prices. The explainers lean on people who know the ground — a retired banker with a long career in the sector, jewellers we know personally who handle gold every day, and a careful read from someone with experience in financial services.

No tips, no hype, no pressure to buy or sell — just the rate, and an honest sense of what it means for you.
