Why the Canada–India gap looks the way it does
The metal price is the same everywhere — what differs is tax. India stacks a reduced import duty and GST on top of the world gold price, so Indian retail gold sits well above the global rate. Canada carries no such import duty, and most Canada states charge no sales tax on investment bars and coins — so the same pure gold is usually cheaper in Canada than in India, which is what the table above reflects.
